Bank of Russia to publish analytical commentaries on monitoring of businesses
The Bank of Russia is expanding its range of publications based on regular surveys of more than 14,000 businesses across the country. If previously readers only had access to survey data on the price expectations of businesses, the new monthly information and analytical commentary Monitoring of Businesses significantly expands the list of published monitoring results.
In addition to price expectations of businesses, the document also includes estimates of business climate, output and demand dynamics both in Russia in general and in the key sectors of the economy. Publications will include survey data beginning from 2002.
The Bank of Russia’s Business Climate Index (BCI) in the commentary shows actual and expected output and demand trends based on respondents’ assessments. This index qualitatively supplements official statistics and can be used as a leading indicator of economic activity.
