Third All-Russian Congress of Financial Awareness Volunteers convenes on 17 May
At 10:00, on 17 May 2017, the Third All-Russian Congress of Financial Awareness Volunteers convenes for its plenary session. The congress was established by the Expert Council for Financial Awareness attached to the Bank of Russia (BoR). The congress will take place on 17-18 May at the Bank of Russia’s Corporate University (21 Molodezhnaya Street, Odintsovo, Moscow Oblast).
It will be for the first time that volunteers (representatives of educational, research and non-governmental organisations actively involved in the promotion of financial awareness) will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues related to financial awareness with BoR Governor Elvira Nabiullina, the leadership of the Ministry of Education and Science and regional / municipal authorities.
The Congress will enable the volunteers to share their work experience and help them establish effective interaction with public authorities, local government and among each other.
With the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Bank of Russia has recently launched an effort to integrate a basic financial awareness course into educational institutions’ curricula. The Bank also considers the financial education of adult citizens to be a priority. In particular, it will focus on vulnerable groups including pensioners, people with disabilities and children raised in social care.
Eight subject-matter roundtables will be held at the congress. The Charter of the Financial Awareness Volunteer Community is due to be released as a planned outcome of the event.
