Bank of Russia issues new commemorative coins

On 25 October 2018, the Bank of Russia issues a silver proof commemorative coin Theatre Magic in denomination of 3 rubles. The reverse side of the coin depicts the image of Medea Figner, the first performer of the role of Iolanta, in her stage image, and the figures of the Nutcracker ballet dancers. The mintage of the coin is 2,000 pcs.

Another 3-ruble coin is issued in the Guarding the Homeland series. Its reverse side features a relief image of Russian warriors wearing arms, holding arquebuses and bearing a St. George banner with silhouettes of enemy archers and Russian soldiers in the background. The mintage of the coin is 3,000 pcs.

100-ruble silver coin is issued to commemorate 100 years of the 1917-1918 All-Russian Council of the Russian Orthodox Church and the restoration of the Russian Orthodox Patriarchate. Its reverse side features the portrait of Patriarch Tikhon with angels holding the elements of his vestments above his head and the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and the Moscow Kremlin Cathedral of the Dormition in the background. The mintage of the coin is 50 pcs.

Furthermore, the Bank of Russia issues the series of coins devoted to the 200th anniversary of the birth of I.S. Turgenev. The series contains two silver coins in denomination of 3 and 25 rubles and one gold coin in denomination of 50 rubles.

The reverse side of the 3-ruble coin features a portrait of I.S. Turgenev surrounded by images related to his work. The mintage of the coin is 3,000 pcs.

The reverse side of the 25-ruble coin depicts characters from A Sportsman’s Sketches collection of short stories. The mintage of the coin is 1,000 pcs.

The reverse side of the 50-ruble coin features a relief portrait of I.S. Turgenev. The mintage of the coin is 1,500 pcs.
