On issuing of investment coins of precious metals

On July 24, 2015 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues bullion coins of precious metals:

  • A silver uncirculated coin in denomination of 3 Roubles (catalogue number 5111-0178) and a gold uncirculated coin in denomination of 50 Roubles (catalogue number 5216-0060) of the series „Saint George the Victorious”.

Description of the coins of precious metals:

A silver uncirculated coin in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 999/1000, diameter 39.0 mm, mintage up to 500000 pcs) and a gold uncirculated coin in denomination of 50 Roubles (fine metal content 7.78 g, fineness 999/1000, diameter 22.6 mm, mintage up to 500000 pcs) have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The obverse: a relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia — a two-headed eagle with wings down, and a semicircular inscription under it „БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed with a circle of beads. Inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denomination of the coins „ТРИ РУБЛЯ” (THREE ROUBLES), „ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ РУБЛЕЙ” (FIFTY ROUBLES) respectively and the year of issue „2015”, between them there is an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of a mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse sideof the coins bears arelief image of Saint George the Victorious on a horseback spearing a dragon.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
