On issuing of commemorative coins of precious and base metals

On December 5, 2017 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins dedicated to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia:

• Four silver proof coins in denomination of 3 Roubles — „Moscow” (catalogue number 5111-0365), „Saint Petersburg” (catalogue number 5111-0366), „Sochi” (catalogue number 5111-0367) and ‘Triumph" (catalogue number 5111-0368);
• A gold proof commemorative coin in denomination of 50 Roubles (catalogue number 5216-0114);
• A base metals commemorative coin in denomination of 25 Roubles in a regular and special edition designs.

Description of the coins of precious metal:

Silver proof coins in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31.1 g, fineness 925/1000, diameter 39.0 mm, mintage up to 24000 pcs of each design) have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference. The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coins bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: „РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), „БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coins — „3 РУБЛЯ” (3 ROUBLES) and the year — „2018”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

The reverse side:

• of a silver proof coin „Moscow” depicts an image of a cartouche with the St. Basil’s Cathedral, the Spasskaya Tower of the Kremlin and an inscription „Moscow” against a background layer combining two types of inspiration: Russia’s cultural and folklore heritage and Football’s visual world; a flying ball trail performed in colour; a football player. There is an inscription along the circumference on the left — „ЧЕМПИОНАТ МИРА ПО ФУТБОЛУ FIFA 2018 В РОССИИ” (2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA);

• of a silver proof coin „Saint Petersburg” depicts an image of a cartouche with monument to Peter the Great and an inscription „Saint-Petersburg” in two lines against a background layer combining two types of inspiration: Russia’s cultural and folklore heritage and Football’s visual world; a flying ball trail performed in colour; a football player. There is an inscription along the circumference on the left -„ЧЕМПИОНАТ МИРА ПО ФУТБОЛУ FIFA 2018 В РОССИИ” (2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA);

• of a silver proof coin „Sochi” depicts an image of a cartouche with seaport of Sochi and an inscription „Sochi” against a background layer combining two types of inspiration: Russia’s cultural and folklore heritage and Football’s visual world; a flying ball trail performed in colour; a football player. There is an inscription along the circumference on the left — „ЧЕМПИОНАТ МИРА ПО ФУТБОЛУ FIFA 2018 В РОССИИ” (2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA);

• of a silver proof coin „Triumph” depicts an image made by use of techniques of partial gilding and colour elements: of hands holding the FIFA World Cup Trophy against the stylized stadium bowl. There is an inscription along the circumference on the left — „ЧЕМПИОНАТ МИРА ПО ФУТБОЛУ FIFA 2018 В РОССИИ” (2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA)

Gold proof coin in denomination of 50 Roubles (fine metal content 7.78 g, fineness 999/1000, diameter 22.6 mm, mintage up to 12000 pcs) have the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. There are inscriptions: „РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), „БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin —"50 РУБЛЕЙ" (50 ROUBLES) and the year — „2018”, an indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, purity, trade mark of the Saint Petersburg mint and fine precious metal content.

Description of the coin of base metals:

A base metals coin in denomination of 25 Roubles is white in colour (diameter 27.0 mm, mintage 20000000 pcs including 250000 pcs in a special edition), has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference. The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The obverse side of the coin bears a relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, a semicircular inscription — „РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) above it. There are inscriptions in three lines: „БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination of the coin — „25 РУБЛЕЙ” (25 ROUBLES) and the year — „2018”, trade mark of the Moscow mint on the right.

The reverse side:

• of a base metals coin depicts a relief image of the mascot 2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA. There is an inscription along the circumference at the bottom — „ЧЕМПИОНАТ МИРА ПО ФУТБОЛУ FIFA 2018 В РОССИИ” (2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA).

• of a base metals coin in a special edition depicts an image of the mascot 2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA in colour. There is an inscription along the circumference at the bottom — „ЧЕМПИОНАТ МИРА ПО ФУТБОЛУ FIFA 2018 В РОССИИ” (2018 FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA).

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
