* The international reserves are highly liquid financial assets held with the Bank of Russia and the Government of the Russian Federation as of the reporting date. The international reserve assets comprise monetary gold, SDR holdings, reserve position in IMF, foreign exchange and other claims. The foreign exchange refers to cash foreign exchange; deposits with nonresident banks; debt securities issued by nonresidents; other short-term claims on nonresidents. Other claims include reverse repos with nonresidents. The part of the Reserve Fund and the National Wealth Fund held on foreign currency accounts with the Bank of Russia is used for investing in foreign assets and included in reserve assets. The international reserves exclude foreign exchange assets held with resident banks as well as securities, which serve as a collateral in repo transactions.
