Banknotes and Coins

On December 17, 2012 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues investment uncirculated coins with the year of mintage “2012”, dedicated to the XXII Olympic Winter Games in 2014 in Sochi:

— a silver coin in denomination of 3 Roubles,

— two gold coins in denomination of 50 and 100 Roubles.

The silver uncirculated coin in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31.1g, fineness 999/1000, catalogue number 5111-0247, mintage up to 300000 pcs) is rectangular (35.0mm х 23.0mm) with rounded angles. The coin has the rim raised on both sides along the perimeter.

The obverse side of the coin depicts the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and the inscription in two lines “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION), the indications of the denomination of the coin “3 РУБЛЯ” (THREE ROUBLES) and the year of issue “2012 г.”, the indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, the purity, the trade mark of the mint and the fine precious metal content.

The reverse: the relief image of the Polar Bear — the official mascot of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. The inscription “СОЧИ 2014” (SOCHI 2014) in two lines and five Olympic rings are depicted under it are depicted at the left side.

The edge of the coin is corrugated.

The gold uncirculated coins in denomination of 50 and 100 Roubles (fine metal content 7.78g and 15.55g, fineness 999/1000, catalogue numbers 5216-0089 and 5217-0040 respectively, mintage up to 300000 pcs and up to 100000 pcs respectively) are rectangular (20.0mm х 14.0mm and 28.0mm х 17.0mm respectively) with rounded angles. The coins have the rim raised on both sides along the perimeter.

The obverse sides of the coins depict the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and the inscriptions in two lines “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION), the indications of the denomination of the coins “50 РУБЛЕЙ” (FIFTY ROUBLES) and “100 РУБЛЕЙ” (ONE HUNDRED ROUBLES) and the year of issue “2012 г.”, the indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, the purity, the trade mark of the mint and the fine precious metal content.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
